Steve Back is an established photographer focusing on the built environment. While his commercial work encompasses architecture, interiors, industrial spaces and maritime, his real passion is abstract landscapes.
Steve sees his job as to reveal the beauty in any given situation. It is always there, though sometimes well hidden, but with the right combination of perspective, composition and lighting it can always be found. This is as true of an urban landscape, an office refit or an industrial shed, in fact the most satisfaction often comes from the unlikeliest starting points.
Increasingly more interested in abstract forms and pure composition, he finds shooting from helicopters and drones a particularly appealing way to show us how to see the world differently. Finding the unfamiliar in the familiar, the magnificent in the mundane and the divine in the drab.
Steve is available for commission and his commercial work can be seen at steveback.com.au (or @stevebackphotography).
He lives between Bondi Beach and Mullumbimby in Northern NSW with his wife, two sons and cattle dog (Phoenix). Prior to being a photographer, Steve was a Cambridge University educated Engineer and a management consultant in TV and new media. He also holds a Masters degree in Gestalt Therapy.
